I played this a couple of years ago but I thought it was a very clever little game. It’s not especially long – about four or so hours, depending on how fast you play it and figure out the puzzles, which get progressively more difficult throughout the game – but I thought the concept was really excellent.
The game begins in 1972, where you are a janitor – literally average Joe, who is sent down to clean a basement in the corporation where he works. It quickly spirals out of control when he finds someone in the basement who claims to be a time traveller. The basis of the puzzles in the game revolve around time travel – flitting between time periods, 1972 and an apocalyptic future with no humans, to figure out how to escape areas in the future and save humankind, as well as unravel the mystery of just what happened to humanity in the future, and how to stop it.
I think the thing that really sticks with me about the game is it’s simplicity and the charm of it’s art style. It is simple, stylistic and very cool, as you can see by the screenshot at the top of the post. It really doesn’t get too much slicker and simple than that, yet it portrays everything it tries to get across – you can clearly tell that it’s a nostalgic blast from the past with the 70s style room with it’s interesting wallpapering…
The puzzles honestly weren’t that difficult, the only times I really had difficulty were towards the end of the game, but considering the game used to be a mobile game I could let it go and appreciate it for what it was – a cool, short little science-fiction time-travelling adventure about an average guy who wants to save the world, but doesn’t quite know how he’s even supposed to start.
You can find it on: Android, iOS, Microsoft Windows and Mac OS.
